18 Jan. 2010: Piribebuy Week #2

Dear Family,
How are you all doing? It sounds like you are all having a good winter. I had a good week but we traveled a ton so it was tough. We went to Asuncion monday for our zone activity, we just ate at a fancy chinese restuarant. Then tuesday Elder Garcia had a meeting in Asuncion For all District Leaders so I went to an area close to Itagua for the Day and wendsday we were back in our area but we had zone conferance on thursday in asuncion. So we werent in our area much at all but this next week will be alot better.
Elder Garcia is a really good missionary. He came in the same time as Elder Job so He has Like 15 months in the Mission. I can talk with him alright. I cant say everything I want or as fast as I want to say it but he is super patient. His spanish is really clean and I can understand him pretty well. He comes from A family of I think four. His Dad Died when he was 12 and has 2 younger siblings I think...His mom And dad are return missionaries so his family is pretty strong in the church but I dont know what happened to his dad.
We had a few fechas drop but we have like six or so. We were going to have a baptism Sunday but here is the Story...Christina is 85 years old and doesnt speak spanish just guarani. She is about the size of Dallin but she has gone to chuch like five times. She was going to get baptised 2 weeks ago but in the interview found out she chewed tobacco. so we taught her Palabra day Sabiduria and she hasnt chewed since!!!!! we had the baptism planned sunday morning butshe didnt come. We then found out it was because she didnt have the 3 mil guarani for the Culitivo. 3mil is like 75 cents. She lives like 30 minutes out in the campo so we couldnt go get her because the is only three culitivos a day to her area. So we have It replanned for Thursday and will have to just give her money to ride the culitivo because when your 85 and by yourself it is pretty tough to work. She is pretty heathy though...I saw her run the other day and couldnt believe my eyes. But we will be looking forward to her baptism because she is ready and has been so excited for her baptism.
We also have another fecha with Paulina who is basically the mom of a bunch of members. the dad and the kids are members but she is not, I hope she will get baptised. but we have a tough time getting her to Ask God if it is True because she is cathlic and a jehova witness.
The other three are with kids for the 30 of this month. whos names are Blanca, Angie and David. All are from diferent families. Blanca is the granddaughter of Christina and is 8 but turns 9 the 29. she was kindof baptised whenshe turned 8 but what happened was when she was baptised her foot came up out of the water and she ran. shewouldnt get back in the water and for like a year she wouldnt get in the water because she is scared of it. but she wants it now and so hers will be the30-
Angie is like 12 and her mom is a member but lives in spain and she lives with her grandma whos a member too but doesnt want to give the permision with out the mom because the dad doesnt want it because he isnt a member. So we are waiting for the grandma to get a phonecall from the mom to get permision.
And David is about the same age butjust needs to go to church once more.
Piribebuy has just a branch so that is fun. I like it alot we have about 60 people in church. This area is one of the biggest in the mission because there used to be 4 elders here and it was two areas but then they just combined it into one. So it is huge. I havent been to any of the borders yet. But it is really cool.

                                  Love Elder Call
