14 Feb. 2011: Mariano Roca Lonzo Week #17

Happy Valentines Day!!!
Family and Friends,

How are you all doing? I am feeling alot better than last week, thank goodness!  I recovered really fast, so thank you for your prayers. So ya, my health is back up to normal and this was an enjoyable week.  As to the weather, it finally cooled down a bit or at least at night it started to drop a bit, but it is still really hot compared to at home.  I am really enjoying my time here in Mariano with Elder Humphreys.

As for the work, we are at a build up phase. We have way too many non progressing investigators and not enough that are going to church and progressing for baptism, but we still have alot of really awesome people we are working with.  Gustavo, Diego's dad, decided to stop smoking and drinking and yesterday was his last day. His plan is to quite cold, so we will see what happens.  I am excited to see if it happens.  I don't know if they are doing the same thing everywhere else, but we are doing this ward council thing that basically runs the mission work. It is awesome.  It gets members working with us. For example: the Elders Quorum is in charge of five families in my area and is to visit them and do everything possible to get them to progress and start working for the temple. The Elders did their first visit this week and the results are huge; a family that has been in active for well over 10 years committed to return this week to come.  They are the family friend of Edil's family and there is  a big possibility that alot comes from it.  I am way excited for that.

Today we played some basketball for a couple hours.  I enjoyed it today mostly because it has been so long since I had touched a basketball.  I think I am going to be sore tomorrow.

We are also going to start doing service in the morning for our exercise.  We found an old lady who needs help chopping wood.  We live close to her house so we will be going at 6:30 in the  morning to do service.  I think it will be a great use of our time.  I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the Lord by serving the people here in Mariano and being a missionary. I know this is the true church.

I love you all.
Love, Elder Call
