21 Feb. 2011: Mariano Roca Lonzo Week #18

Dear Family and Friends,
 
I had another great week! We started last week playing some basketball for P day and I payed for it the whole week.  I was super sore, but it was way fun and we had a good time.  It had been along time since I  had played basketball.  On Wednesday, we split wood as a service project for this 75 year old lady that lives kind of by our house.  It turned out to be quite the job because we were using a crappy ax and I swear we were chopping green oak. After almost an hour we had chopped only like  four pieces and she was grateful for the service. She used to go to church but hasn't been for several years, we will see what happens. I also got like four nice blisters from the work but really enjoyed it.
 
Our investigators are doing all right we have quite a few that are slowly progressing now so it is kind of frustrating but we are working hard and doing every thing we can to help them out. Maxima and Hugo are doing well but they didn't come to church and she is trying to help her husband be interested.  I am glad she realizes the importance of families in the Gospel.
 
Nothing too interesting has happened here.  Elder Decker, the Zone Leader, lost his cell phone so he stole my phone so he could stay in contact with the rest of the Zone. It is weird not having a phone.  It is crazy how much we rely on them.
 
There has been a big break out on the news of some house possessed by evil spirits. They made a huge deal about it and it has been the biggest question for this last week. "Do you believe in ghosts?" and "What is your stance on witchcraft?"  It is kind of weird and totally caught me of guard the first time they asked.
 
The next changes are on the 2nd of March, so it will be interesting what happens. I am really excited for James to get here it will be fun to hear his experiences.  I love you all. Thanks for your letters.

Dear Family and Friends,  I had another great week, we found some good new investigators and brought five of them inchurch,  I feel that the branch is getting better now, we had those first few weeks I was here that were full of so many problems, but I feel that they have strengthened me and the other members of the branch. The attendance is rising weekly. It has been tough for me to come here to amparo and leave all of the people from saldo and the success there but I know that the Lord sent me to Amparo for a reason. 6 June 2011: Salado Week #10

Dear Family and Friends,   I am glad to hear that everything went well with the trip to Lake Powell, it sounds like fun.haha. No I had a great week too, we are working hard and I am really enjoying my time with Elder Che. He is a hard worker and has good views on how to work effectivly. We are working most with the members. Last week we made Little sheets that have a scripture and a little note from us that is for references. We havent really recieved one yet but several of the members have invited and are planning for a time that we can go with them to visit. I am excited for it because we really need it we need more investigators. Several of the members are just great there is a Sister Medina that is like 70 years old that is one of my favorites. She has the biggest heart and is just great She broke her arm a coulple months ago so we started visiting her to help her out she also has a 8 year old grandson that is planning on getting baptised here before to long. 16 May 2011: Salado Week #7

Dear Family and Friends,         Thanks for your letters this week. I am doing good and the week passed by really quickly. It is really starting to cool down a bit here in Paraguay so that is nice. It is crazy that it will basically be cool the rest of my mission. We are really excited for Sergio and Ever. Sergio blessed the Sacrament for the first time yesterday and did great! he was also called or assigned to be like an assitant to  the Secretary of the ward So that wil be good. Ever I am sure will bless the sacrament this week to come it is awesome to see that they are getting so involved and and that they are doing so well. Ever got his sister to come which was a great sign for us his family is opening up a lot they still arent progressing really toward baptism but they will come around, His mom is really catholickind of I guess she knows alot and doest really practice any of it.
