28 Feb. 2011: Mariano Roca Lonzo Week #19

Dear Family and Friends,
 
I am doing well and we had a great week this week, but I still don't know about changes until later tonight. So sorry that you will have to wait til next week. Today I think my mission changed.... Let me explain. We had a big meeting with all Zone and District Leaders with Pres. Arnold from the 70 and he gave the conference talk "What Have You Done With my Name." I have never heard a testimony as powerful has his in my life, it was amazing. Our mission has had a large decrease in numbers for well over a year now. President Arnold basically dropped cane on us for about three hours and there are lots of changes, some examples:  No leaving your area, no zone activities, no guitars, and I don't remember the others, but I made a list of everything that we were doing that we can't do. Don't think I was just being super disobedient because we used to have permission but not now. It will be interesting to see what happens. I am excited for the changes though because there are alot of little things that will help us have the Spirit more to teach with and have more power and authority. His testimony was just like "I know that Jesus Christ lives, I know it's not faith because I know...." 
As for my area we are doing well Maxima is looking really good and is now testifying of the truthfulness of the gospel, this week she brought her 81 year old mom and a16 year old girl that lives with her.  They seem legit her son was sick so that is why he didn't go and this coming Sunday she is supposed to bring her husband. We went to meet him but have yet to find him because he is always working or sleeping, hopefully they will be a promising family.!!!!
 
We were lead to some other family named Familia Torres. I don't know how good they are yet but at first accepted a bap. date but then he couldn't come to church although he has been reading lots in the BOM (Book of Mormon). 
 
Dad asked "What I Study and How I do in my journal?" I try to write in my journal as much as possible but usually do 2 a week now, I have a hard time making time every day and sometimes there isn't a lot to write. I study a little of everything and am currently reading through D&C and finishing the BOM.  We are to study PMG (Preach My Gospel) everyday and use it lots. I wish we had more than an hour to study but it reminds you not to waste what you got.}
 
I am horrible at writing letters, even back to those that have written me. Please forgive me! I really do appreciate the letters.  It is a hassle to write, send, pay for, and worry about hand written letters. Correct me if I am wrong, but Thanks to all those that have written me and please forgive me for not writing back.

Dear Family and Friends,  I had another great week, we found some good new investigators and brought five of them inchurch,  I feel that the branch is getting better now, we had those first few weeks I was here that were full of so many problems, but I feel that they have strengthened me and the other members of the branch. The attendance is rising weekly. It has been tough for me to come here to amparo and leave all of the people from saldo and the success there but I know that the Lord sent me to Amparo for a reason. 6 June 2011: Salado Week #10

Dear Family and Friends,   I am glad to hear that everything went well with the trip to Lake Powell, it sounds like fun.haha. No I had a great week too, we are working hard and I am really enjoying my time with Elder Che. He is a hard worker and has good views on how to work effectivly. We are working most with the members. Last week we made Little sheets that have a scripture and a little note from us that is for references. We havent really recieved one yet but several of the members have invited and are planning for a time that we can go with them to visit. I am excited for it because we really need it we need more investigators. Several of the members are just great there is a Sister Medina that is like 70 years old that is one of my favorites. She has the biggest heart and is just great She broke her arm a coulple months ago so we started visiting her to help her out she also has a 8 year old grandson that is planning on getting baptised here before to long. 16 May 2011: Salado Week #7

Dear Family and Friends,         Thanks for your letters this week. I am doing good and the week passed by really quickly. It is really starting to cool down a bit here in Paraguay so that is nice. It is crazy that it will basically be cool the rest of my mission. We are really excited for Sergio and Ever. Sergio blessed the Sacrament for the first time yesterday and did great! he was also called or assigned to be like an assitant to  the Secretary of the ward So that wil be good. Ever I am sure will bless the sacrament this week to come it is awesome to see that they are getting so involved and and that they are doing so well. Ever got his sister to come which was a great sign for us his family is opening up a lot they still arent progressing really toward baptism but they will come around, His mom is really catholickind of I guess she knows alot and doest really practice any of it.
