5 July 2010: Pedro Juan Caballero Week #2

Dear Family and Friends
 
Thanks For the letters this week. I cant believe its already time to write again. I amd doing great and we had a good week. I am Excited for what is to come here.
 
Just to tell you a bit more about what its like here....Even though it is along ways away it is super nice andalmost too nice for me. We actually have houses that have door bells and stuff, But thank goodness most of the houses arent like that. We have some sweet investigators. I am starting to love the people and area now!! at first I struggled a bit. The city is pretty big and there are like 10 missionaries here. I live with Elder Cox from somewhere close to Elko Nevada and Elder Moran From Equador. It is fun to live with other elders but we are suppose to move out asap.... If we can find a house.
 
I have to tell you about a family that we recently met and that came to church. Alcedis is 29 and lives with a girl named Victoria. But the other day he had a dream where within three days he had to find a church because in the three the earth would burn or somthing?.... Kind of crazy right? Any way he dicided to go look but it was like 4 oclock in the afternoon and he couldnt find one that was open. He then passed Rama 5 or Branch 5 and at that time they elders there were having a baptism! He was there and the elders got his number. We called him like thursday and went to meet him. He was cool but we didnt know anything that had happened yet and didnt have time to teach anything. But we invited him to church. He and his Girlfriend Came to Church!!! then sunday night we went to his house and he had been reading all afternoon the principles of the Gospel book. When we got the they talked about what they had to do to get married and things like WE used to sell alcohol but know that we know its a comandment not to we wont do it any more!!! They ahve some trails because the man needs a divorce before he can get married which is usually super hard because it costs quite a bit of money but they are willing to sell their car to do it!!!!!!!!!
 
That was a bam!! I cant believe how ready some people are to recieve the gospel.- I know this is the work of the Lord and that the church that we are members of is the only true church in all the earth. I love you and am thankful for you and the examples you are to me. We get to take the 7 hour bus ride to asuncion tomarrow night for Zone conferance.- And meet the new president.

Dear Family,
 
I again dont have that much time but here is my Zone we had a 2on 2 basketball tournament so that was fun me and my comp lost though. It was the first time I had played basket ball for my whole mission.
I love you all sorry to hear about splash it actually made me tear up alittle when i read the story.

Dear Family and Friends,  I had another great week, we found some good new investigators and brought five of them inchurch,  I feel that the branch is getting better now, we had those first few weeks I was here that were full of so many problems, but I feel that they have strengthened me and the other members of the branch. The attendance is rising weekly. It has been tough for me to come here to amparo and leave all of the people from saldo and the success there but I know that the Lord sent me to Amparo for a reason. 6 June 2011: Salado Week #10

Dear Family and Friends,   I am glad to hear that everything went well with the trip to Lake Powell, it sounds like fun.haha. No I had a great week too, we are working hard and I am really enjoying my time with Elder Che. He is a hard worker and has good views on how to work effectivly. We are working most with the members. Last week we made Little sheets that have a scripture and a little note from us that is for references. We havent really recieved one yet but several of the members have invited and are planning for a time that we can go with them to visit. I am excited for it because we really need it we need more investigators. Several of the members are just great there is a Sister Medina that is like 70 years old that is one of my favorites. She has the biggest heart and is just great She broke her arm a coulple months ago so we started visiting her to help her out she also has a 8 year old grandson that is planning on getting baptised here before to long. 16 May 2011: Salado Week #7

Dear Family and Friends,         Thanks for your letters this week. I am doing good and the week passed by really quickly. It is really starting to cool down a bit here in Paraguay so that is nice. It is crazy that it will basically be cool the rest of my mission. We are really excited for Sergio and Ever. Sergio blessed the Sacrament for the first time yesterday and did great! he was also called or assigned to be like an assitant to  the Secretary of the ward So that wil be good. Ever I am sure will bless the sacrament this week to come it is awesome to see that they are getting so involved and and that they are doing so well. Ever got his sister to come which was a great sign for us his family is opening up a lot they still arent progressing really toward baptism but they will come around, His mom is really catholickind of I guess she knows alot and doest really practice any of it.
