5 Oct. 2010: Pedro Juan Caballero Week #15
Dear Family and Friends,
Sorry my email is so late I am sure you are wondering why i didnt write but everything is going good we just had a really foggy day yesterday so there was no internet service or something like that, so we got permision to just do it today.
Conferance was wonderful i learned so much, we were able to watch all sessions and learn a ton, I really liked the talk for president Monson on Gratitude some time as a missionary it is easy to forget to thank the Lord for the many many blessings we recieve everyday and easier to start complaining about everything that goes wrong but I was reminded of the importance when President talked on it. All of the talks were just great though.
I feel a little sad for our branch here because we are having quite a few problems... the man who taught preisthood for example got mad at his wife and left her and everything he had to start a new life I guess he moved to brasil. Our president hasnt been coming to chuch too much and there are no youth or a primary. It is kind of tough and frustrating but I am thankful for the few awesome members that we do have. Cristobal Went to more conferance than anyone else in the whole branch and seems to be doing great I hope he will finally recieve the priesthood this week so that he can recieve a calling. His wife came to a session of Conferance too!!! and so did Emilio one of his sons. I hope to see the get baptised soon. The indians wernt able to come to conferance though.
Sunday morning before conferance we were out verifying who was coming and not when I decided to go invite and meet the parents of Milena a ten year old girl that comes from really poor conditions that has gone to church with some other members and wnats to get baptised. I thought it would be a great oppertunity to get them to conferance. I knew that it was going to be rough but I had no idea it would be so bad! It was equally as crazy as getting robbed. We went and she went in to tell her parents that we were there and I just heard some yelling in guarani but nothing to bad. She came out and I started talking with her again for a minute then after a second a man came out and shook our hands and everything. He started telling me that he needed help because he said that he drank did drugs and robbed to get money to feed his family. We started teaching that through Jesus christ we can repent and change ourlives. He then invited us in saying I wish you could see the inside of my house We have no beds, blankets or any thing like that. they dont even have power for light. Telling me of having no food and it being 11 oclock without eating even the kids He then did something I didnt expect lifting is shirt to show me his pistol tucked in his pants. he told me that when we left he had to go to the border and do a robbery. Bringing back every memory and feeling of getting robbed, I had no idea what to do. we ended up going to a members to ask them if they could help they took some food over. and dwe promised blessing and just tried to get him to go to confewrance. he wouldnt go though and we got out safely-. I hope he will never rob us I felt so bad for his kids though. I am not sure what we will do though in the next visit though.
Well my time is up so I will write more next week I love you tons
