7 Mar. 2011: Mariano Roca Lonzo Week #20
Dear Family and Friends:
I had another great week they just keep flying by. On Tuesday we received the news that Elder Humphreys and I would be staying for the 3rd (transfer)!!! It is a long time to be with a comp, so it is good that we get along well. I was glad because Elder Humphreys has good desires to do everything with exactness, so applying the things we learned from President Arnold isn't too hard and isn't much of a change from what we were already doing. I am grateful to be here in Mariano and serve the people here. It is a great area and I have alot of friends here. After transfers we went to visit the Elders Quorum President and he ended up telling us that he was talking to President Madariaga and mentioned the missionaries. Our Elders Quorum Pres. told President Madariaga that he should not change us because we are working hard and are in the middle a program to work with the members.
We had an OK week as for the progressing of investigators and Maxima had some doubts and ended up avoiding us for several days and didn't come to church. I felt really bad and didn't know what was going on. We ended up contacting her Sunday afternoon and had a good lesson about blessings and about the difference between God's plan and Satan's plan. Her husband is struggling and we finally met him but he was drinking, so we didn't talk. Maxima knows the Church is true and wants her whole family in it, so it is a challenge for her. But, it will be OK. It might just take a little extra time.
Another cool thing we are starting to do is kneel and pray after each lesson we teach. It is something we never did because most of the time we are teaching on dirt or mud but it is powerful, the spirit is strong when we do and the investigators feel alot more too.
As for interesting... Elder Humpreys and I went to a restaurant thing kind of by our house and we order a dish called Guizo. It is rice or pasta with tomato sauce and chunks of meat. I ordered pasta and Elder Humphreys ordered rice. Mine was good, but Elder Humphreys was Arroz con Mondongo or rice with cow intestines. He actually ate it and I just tried a piece. It was pretty gross. I definitely won't eat it again. Nobody got sick so that was good.
We are seeing lots of blessing a referance (referral) of Edil came to church and is looking really good, Fernando, a 19 year old. He is smart and was answering lots of questions in Gospel Principles. I know that the Lord is watching and helping us in this great work. Thanks for all your letters. I love you lots, Elder Call
